In this week’s episode, I explain how to properly brand your podcast and videocast. Your brand is how people identify you. In business, your brand will determine the type of customers you will attract. For instance, brands like Mercedes and Gucci are instantly associated with luxury. These brands are often automatically given the benefit of the doubt when is comes to quality. While both companies do make quality products, their brands have created instant credibility with consumers. Both companies logos are instantly recognizable by most people. This shows that a quality presentation is essential to developing your brand. Branding works in the same manner when it comes to podcasting and videocasting. Your content is king however, quality is definitely the beautiful queen.

By the end of this episode, you will:
  • recognize the importance of branding your podcast/videocast
  • learn the different measures you need to take to properly brand your podcast/videocast
  • hear examples of how branding your podcast/videocast can attract listeners

In this week’s episode, I focus on why every business owner needs to be creating their own content whether that's a podcast and/or videocast. Gone are the days where you can just purchase a commercial on TV or the radio to create awareness of your business. The reality is that traditional forms of media such as TV and radio are dying which means their impact on influencing potential consumers is dying as well. More and more, people are seeking out original and organic content. Ironically, as people are becoming less dependent on personal connections in their personal lives, people are becoming more dependent on personal connects with the goods and services they want and need.
By the end of this episode, you will:
  • recognize the importance of controlling the image of your business
  • see how creating brand awareness will help you be seen as the expert in your field
  • learn how creating your own organic content will help you humanize your business and build a personal connection with potential consumers

In this week’s episode, I’m flying solo and addressing the importance of consistency. If content is king and quality is queen, consistency is a Joker. Let’s say someone stumbles upon your podcast and listens to all of your available podcast episodes. They’re hooked. They subscribe and are eagerly anticipating your next episode. They come back a week later and you have not posted a new episode. A week later they check again and there are still no new episodes. Do you think this person is going to keep coming back? I doubt it. This is why consistency is the key to creating a successful podcast.

By the end of this episode, you will:
  • understand the importance of consistency for podcasters and all other content creators
  • learn how to create a weekly schedule that will allow you to be consistent with creating, distributing and marketing your content
  • realize how not being consistent can prevent your podcast from growing

In this week’s episode, I sit down with my friend, Rufus Lott to discuss how starting a podcast could help him grow his consulting business. Rufus has been an education consultant for about a year. He partnered up with another friend, Kevin Curtis to create Texas Educators for Restorative Practices (TEXRP). I can attest from personal experience that Rufus and Kevin are equally qualified to train educators in Restorative Practices. With that said, Kevin has about a year and a half head start on Rufus as an independent educational consultant. As we all know with consulting, branding is everything. Our conversation focuses on how Rufus can use podcasting to build his brand, as well as Kevin’s, to help push their TEXRP to the next level.

By the end of this episode, you will:
  • understand the importance of your brand in consulting and other service businesses
  • learn how podcasting and other content creating platforms can help you grow your business
  • see how creating free content can build a following which could eventually turn into premium content and passive income

Ep. 004 - Consultation: Who's Your Avatar

3/17/2017

This week’s episode is our second consultation with Munib Sheikh. The focus of this consultation is to help Munib define his avatar. An avatar is a profile of the ideal person who will resonate with your podcast. Defining your avatar will help you remain focused when creating content. Podcasting is a lot like fishing. There are plenty of fish in the ocean, lake or river and there are many different ways to catch them. With that said, if you go with fishing without a plan, you’re likely to walk away with an empty cooler. However, if you determine you are fishing specifically for bass and use bait that bass like, you are more likely to catch a bass or two on your trip. While you may not walk away with a cooler full of bass the first time you go fishing, you will be better equipped to catch bass in the future which will translate to more successful fishing trips. The same is true for podcasting - you may not get 10,000 listeners in the first month but if you focus on your target audience, it will translate to future success.

By the end of this episode, you will:
  • follow Munib’s journey to discovering his avatar
  • know the importance of defining your avatar
  • understand the process for defining your avatar
